Emma & Trevor tied the knot on the wettest March day in history, and the team at Verge Studio had the pleasure of being their photographers! Their colour theme of wintry grey with bold splashes of vibrant red, proved that this couple was going to have a fun, unique & unforgettable wedding day!
Emma & Trevor first met back in 2007 through mutual friends, when Emma tagged along with friends for Trevor’s 21st birthday. The chemistry was instant! Emma played hard-to-get since Trevor was the ‘cool kid’, & she didn’t think he was interested in her. Over time they grew closer & became good friends.
More than a year later, they officially became ‘A Couple’. Their adorable first date was at Yu Restaurant at Crown Casino, where Trevor taught Emma to use chopsticks. They laughed & had a great time, knowing this was the start of something amazing…Almost 5 years later, for Emma’s Birthday dinner, they went to Fraser’s Restaurant in Kings Park. Little did she know that Trevor was about to pop the question! After a long & BIG dinner, they took a stroll to the war memorial to look over the city lights. When Trevor dropped to one knee, Emma was completely surprised! He asked her to marry him… & of course, she says YES!
The following months were spent planning planning planning!
Emma was in her element in planning their wedding (She LOVEs to plan!!) She’d recently helped best friend Caitlyn plan her Big Day, so she already had a few ideas! Emma knew from the start she wanted the Verge Girls as their Photographer; They’re so easy to get along with & the photos are amazing!
The bridesmaids had red floor length gowns (Emma’s favourite colour!), & the guys wore grey suits. Emma’s gorgeous bridal gown was ivory.
The colours were gorgeous!!
Emma & Trevor’s original plan saw them saying ‘I Do’ at the Scented Gardens, with the lush greenery & flowers as their backdrop… but Mother Nature had other plans.
16th May 2015 was the wettest day in history for the month of May (true story!). So Emma & Trevor made the difficult decision to move their ceremony indoors at The Boatshed. Despite this change of plans, the happy couple says “Our wedding day was the MOST PERFECT day to us.”
The ceremony was magical! Emma & Trevor exchanged their personalised vows, followed by a sand union (which now sits proudly in their entryway as a constant reminder of their ongoing love).
The location shoot was … WET!
As with all winter weddings, the sun set early, so there wasn’t much chance of those typically ‘Storybook Sunset Shots’…BUT the Verge Girls took their cues from the natural ambiance & created some of the most cozy, romantic & artistic images ever – Gorgeous!!
The happy couple are over the moon, & say their images are amazing!
“The Verge Girls made it the best fun & it didn’t even matter that it was raining and windy outside. The photos look a million bucks!”They entered their reception to the song ‘Happy’ (by Pharrell Williams) & danced their bridal waltz to ‘Look at Me’ (by Carrie Underwood).
They were having so much fun that after the official reception ended, Emma & Trevor kept the party going at the Crown. What a vision! They wandered the gaming floor in the big puffy ivory wedding dress & suit, receiving with many compliments, congratulations & high fives), Before heading up to our room to call it a day (a long, fun & blustery day!).
After the Big Day ended, They said “We would do it all over again, even with the weather (though I’d hope not). It was truly amazing.”
Emma & Trevor honeymooned in Mauritius!
“It is the tropical paradise that you see in photos. We had a greatest time, saw so much, did so much, relaxed and drank cocktails, many cocktails. The Mauritian people are so lovely and accommodating. Everyone must go once in their life!”
When asked what advice they would give to other brides & grooms, Emma & Trevor said
“Plan the day YOU want, not what is going to please everyone else. Have the magical day YOU imagined. And also to take a moment between the ceremony and reception to take it all in.”
