One of the most in-love couples we’ve met, Delphine & Brian wanted to make their wedding day fun, relaxed & unconventional. The lovebirds tied the knot at a morning ceremony at Brookleigh Estate, with 20 of their closest family & friends, before a cocktail reception at Stewart’s at Brookleigh.

It was important to keep it all simple, laid back, earthy, natural & local.” They said. “We sourced all the services from around the Swan Valley.”

Delphine’s gown perfectly mirrored her bold personality, in a bright red cocktail dress & a black fascinator! She walked down the aisle with her dad, & upon reaching Brian in the gazebo, the joyful laughter began (and didn’t stop throughout the day!).

The newlyweds say “The wedding was a casual catch-up with our friends & family, where we declare & promise our love for one another in front of them all.”

Facing each other to pledge vows of love, it’s incredible to realise this couple first met nine years earlier, through online dating! When Brian proposed two years ago, it was at Brookleigh, so the venue choice was obvious for the Big Day!

Brian had the engagement ring custom made by a creative jeweller, & it resembles a rough gold nugget bearing a beautiful diamond.

Whilst planning, the couple says “we did not expect the planning to be so stressful when we deliberately kept it small!”

During the ceremony, Delphine recalls Brian got teary-eyed. “He is not an emotional guy, & I loved it as it confirmed to me our love for each other.”

The cocktail reception was very relaxed & informal, with a solo musician strumming his guitar & singing, whilst the guests enjoyed the delicious food & mingled with good friends.

“It was a perfect day!” Says bride Delphine.
VS: What was most important to you?

D&B: “There were 2 main aspects of the wedding that we did not want to compromise on: venue & photographers, because after all, those photos are going to be forever!!!!”

VS: Did you DIY or upcycle anything?

D&B: “We did the invites ourself. I even created & printed the menus on the computer as well. As we are into recycling, re-using & reducing waste, we also got the decorations from some friends of ours who used those at their wedding!”

VS: Do you have advice for other brides & grooms?

D&B: “Weddings are such a personal thing. Just remember it is your day & you don’t have to feel obliged to invite everyone you know. It is your day & you invite who matters to you.”

VS: How was your experience with the Verge Studio Team?

D&B:  “I met the girls through a business network meeting & felt a connection straight away. As the wedding photographer was going to be with us all day on our special day, it was important for us that we felt comfortable with them & that they had personality! Boy, did they have personalities!!! Kate is quite artistic but she also listened to our ideas for photos. I knew the wedding day would be a hoot with those girls!!”

VS: Who are your top suppliers?

“Brookleigh Estate was a one-stop-shop for ceremony, reception & accommodation. Stewart’s restaurant was also very accommodating in creating gluten-free items on the menu.”

“Verge Studio: We will have those wedding photos forever. capturing our special moments, so a great, creative & professional photographer was essential for us.”

“Our Cake Maker Jackie, from the Messy Apron took it upon herself to make us a gluten free profiterole tower as the bride was gluten free. She did a fantastic job!!!!”

Delphine & Brian honeymooned in beautiful Fiji; purported to be a paradise of bright sun, clear turquoise water & sandy beaches. Despite experiencing a category 2 cyclone, flooding & quarantine, the couple are still over-the-moon together, and have promised to return to the island soon for a second honeymoon!
